Trees are called a natural and valuable asset. People cannot live without trees in a single day because it gives us oxygen, shelter and many kinds of food and fruits. Trees make our land fertile and soft. We cannot think of the ecological balance of our environment without trees. Trees save our land from flood, soil erosion, etc. The trees prevent air from pollution. But people cut down trees in large numbers which is very bad. Tidal bores, floods, and droughts happen for cutting down trees.

Therefore, tree plantation is very important to protect our environment from all these natural disasters. The rainy season (July to August) is the best time to plant trees. If the tree is planted at this time, the tree grows fast due to getting enough water. Make sure a fence surrounds the trees after we plant them. After planting, the tree must be fenced to protect it from cattle. In addition, the plants need to be watered and fertilized if necessary.

The soil of our country is very fertile. We should plant more trees on fallow lands, along roadsides, around ponds and in educational institutions. Moreover, public awareness at all levels needs to be increased for tree planting. If a tree is cut down, at least 10 trees should be planted.

Many times illegal logging is done by cutting down trees. In particular, smugglers cut down trees in the Sundarbans and smuggle them abroad. The government must take strict action to stop illegal logging.

বৃক্ষকে প্রাকৃতিক ও অমূল্য সম্পদ বলা হয়। মানুষ গাছ ছাড়া একটি দিনও বাঁচতে পারে না, কারণ গাছ আমাদের অক্সিজেন, ছায়া এবং নানা রকম খাদ্য ও ফলমূল দিয়ে থাকে। বৃক্ষ আমাদের ভূমিকে উর্বর ও নরম করে। আমরা বৃক্ষ ছাড়া আমাদের পরিবেশের পরিবেশগত ভারসাম্য রক্ষা করতে পারি না। বৃক্ষ আমাদের ভূমিকে বন্যা, মাটির ক্ষয় ইত্যাদি থেকে রক্ষা করে। বৃক্ষ বাতাসকে দূষণ মুক্ত রাখে। কিন্তু মানুষ ব্যাপক পরিমাণে গাছ কেটে ফেলে, যা খুবই খারাপ। গাছ কাটার ফলে সামুদ্রিক জলোচ্ছ্বাস, বন্যা ও অনাবৃষ্টি ঘটে।

সুতরাং, আমাদের পরিবেশকে এই সব প্রাকৃতিক দুর্যোগ থেকে বাঁচাতে বৃক্ষরোপণ অত্যন্ত জরুরী। বর্ষাকাল (জুলাই থেকে আগস্ট) হচ্ছে গাছ লাগানোর উত্তম সময়। এ সময় গাছ লাগানো হলে পর্যাপ্ত পানি পাওয়ার কারণে গাছ দ্রুত বেড়ে উঠে। গাছ লাগানোর পরে গাছকে গবাদি পশু থেকে রক্ষা করতে অবশ্যই বেড়া দেয়া লাগবে। উপরন্তু, প্রয়োজনে গাছে পানি এবং সার দেয়া লাগবে।
